Additional Information
Registration In order to appropriately staff our programs each quarter there are three quarterly registration periods prior to the start of each quarter.
Fall registration will be open Monday, August 18 at 8:00 am — Friday, August 29 at 5:00 pm.
A $50 late charge will be assessed after
the deadline. Many programs fill quickly and enrollment limits will not be changed.
Special Classes & Family/Saturday Swims Due to enrollment, classes may be combined or
cancelled. If for any reason you would like to change your student's special class arrangements
between the first and second sessions, we will try to find another class for your student or
refund your money. After the second session of a special class, we are unable to refund your
money.
Waitlists Students not enrolled in a requested special
class due to over-enrollment will be placed on the waitlist for that quarter's offering.
Waitlists will be kept for that quarter's offering and will not transfer to following quarters.
For example, a student who registers for fall quarter gymnastics and, due to enrollment limits,
is placed first on the waitlist, will be offered the gymnastics class for the fall if there
is a cancellation, however, his place on the fall waitlist does not make him eligible for the
Winter or Spring offerings of gymnastics.
Dismissal For safety reasons, Lower School students must
be supervised between the time their class is dismissed and the time they are
actually picked up. Therefore, late fees may be assessed for late pick-ups. Pick-ups are considered
late as of 15 minutes after the 2:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m., and 4:30 p.m. dismissals and 5 minutes
after the 5:30 p.m. dismissal. Please contact our office if you expect to be late for your
child's scheduled pick-up. This will allow us to inform your child and our staff of the change of plans
and oftentimes will result in the late fee being waived. Students not picked up by 6:00pm will be placed in the care of
the University of Chicago security detail in Blaine Lobby.
Attendance Our offices are notified of lower and middle school absences
each day and will alert Lab After School staff if your child was absent during the regular
day. If, however, your student attends school, but will not attend Lab After School, please
be sure to notify the Lab After School office directly.
Occasional Use Please visit our on-line
form for further details on the use of our program on an occasional basis. Arrangements
are not final until confirmed by the Lab After School office via email or phone.
Confirmations & Payments Statements will be mailed on
a monthly basis. Please do not submit payment until you have received
your quarterly statement via USPS. Current Lab After School enrollments can be viewed, along with balances, for each of your students using the Lab After School login and password provided to you.
Calendar The Lab After School calendar
is dependent upon the Laboratory Schools calendar, however, does not always coincide with it.
Please reference our calendar periodically to stay up-to-date on schedule or calendar changes. Afternoon programs are not offered on the last day of each quarter (however, Before School will still be held).
Unscheduled Closings In cases of inclement weather, understaffing, or crisis,
emergency closing of Lab After School programs may be necessary. We will notify you of
any unscheduled closings as far in advance as possible.
Photographs & Video Recording The Laboratory Schools
use images of students in its paper and electronic publications. Images are also used for
promotional and archival purposes. These uses include the regular school academic program
as well as all auxiliary, co-curricular, and extracurricular programs. Students are not
identified. If you wish images of your child to be excluded from publication, kindly
notify the Director's Office in writing.
