Reunion Information – Class of 1968

On-line registration has closed, but there is still time to make a reservation for alumni weekend 2008. Please call Kerry Tulson at 773/702-3789 to register by phone.

Dear Classmates,

Can you believe it’s been forty years since our graduation from U-High? Some of us had been at the Lab School since kindergarten and others joined us along the way, but we have all been shaped by the great education we received. Now we can return to share our memories at the June 6-7th Reunion weekend.

Members of the Class of ’68 have agreed to reach out to fellow graduates (this means you!) and ask that you consider making the trip back to Hyde Park, back to the Lab Schools for the special events planned about the June Reunion. In addition to our class dinner on Saturday, June 7, Lab has planned two All-Alumni Events. We encourage you to include at least one of them in your weekend schedule. At these gatherings, you’ll have a chance to walk the halls at Lab, see old teachers, and remember what it meant to be a Lab student.

Reunion weekend begins on Friday, June 6th with the all-alumni dinner at Kovler gym on the Lab Schools campus. This event is open to all alumni and will feature the presentation of the Distinguished Alumni Award, as well as tours of those places in and around Lab that hold so many memories for all of us. On Saturday, June 7th, Lab is hosting the family friendly Jazz Brunch featuring the U-High jazz band and special guest alumni performers. So, join us under the tent in Scammons Garden for the event that has become a Reunion tradition. Our “official” class photo will be taken at the brunch, so be sure to attend!

Now, just for the Class of 1968! We’ve heard from various classmates about selecting a casual venue, one where we can just hang out with one another, so we’ve made reservations for our class to gather at the Daily Bar and Grill at 4560 N. Lincoln. Please be sure to bring your spouse or significant others to this dinner or any of the other wonderful events planned for the weekend.

For air, hotel, car or other travel arrangements, please check out the link on the website. The University of Chicago’s reunion weekend happens the same time as our reunion, and the university has made special arrangements for reunion weekend attendees.

Lastly, the Lab Schools depend on our support to continue the creative atmosphere, which has served us so well, so please make a gift today. Our class donations help Lab maintain academic programs, attract top tier faculty, and stay the forward thinking institution that we know and love. The new website even has an area where you can make a gift on-line.

Please be sure to contact one of us if for some reason we don’t have a good email or contact information for you. Take a moment to update this information on the website, or with one of us! We hope to have a great turnout for the Reunion.

We all know that a fun and meaningful reunion is all about who participates, so we encourage you to register early, and use our online tool to see who is coming. If you are in touch with someone you can encourage to attend, or know how to reach someone on the missing classmates list, please contact them.

Anyone who is interested in working on the Reunion (making phone calls to fellow classmates, sending emails, that sort of thing) please be sure to contact me!

Class Gift

Most of us remember our experience at Lab and/or U-High as the most formative of our lives. To mark this important milestone, we are planning a class gift to the Laboratory Schools. How much to give? It's impossible to put a value on the lifetime of learning and friendships that our U-High years gave us. Gifts of all sizes are welcome and appreciated, and donors of $1000 or more will be recognized as members of the DePencier Society, Lab’s donor recognition society for Alumni. You may also choose to make your gift in memory or honor of a former classmate or teacher.
