From the Principal: First 100 Days RecapI would like to thank Trish Fahey and Tony Shaw for organizing the "First 100 Days Symposium." We had a number of families attend this event at which Allison Jones and I answered questions submitted ahead of time and those presented by the families in attendance. The questions touched on a wide range of topics including the faculty evaluation process, curricular review, condition of the buildings, the role of parents and guardians in the Middle School, homework loads and test calendars, Middle School culture (including having a predominantly female seventh grade), and the many conversations here at the Laboratory Schools—and nationally—about civility in the community. These, of course, were not the only topics discussed, but they do capture much of the evening. I encourage you to attend the Parent-to-Parent meetings to hear from other parents and guardians about their experiences raising middle-school-age students. If you have any further questions or would like more information about any of these topics, please feel free to contact me. Amani Reed |
